Default Oil in the charge pipes

Hey 'Rado guys I need a big favor for a friend. He has a Corrado G60 w/ the BBM supercharger (lynholm (sp?) please correct me if I am wrong, as I always forget the spelling) and he has been getting oil in the charge pipes lately. He is going though a decent amount of oil as well.

I am thinking it may be a PCV issue, but I am not sure and I need some help so if anyone has any advice/experiences please share them with a Corrado noob... :P

He also has an issue where apparently the starter is draining his battery to the point where it will die in 1.5 days; when he disconnects the starter it is fine. Any advice on that would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance guys!

Sounds like crankcase blow-by, check the PCV system, but it might be normal. He could think about running a catch can or something similar if the oil problem is real bad.

Thanks Josh, I will be sure to check his PCV valve and such, and I might have him bring it in to a friend's place where we can take a better look at it.

Oh, how difficult is it to install a catch can? I looks like you just splice it between the PCV outlet and the intake, is it that easy? If so I might suggest that for him. Thanks again!

So you've got the breather on the top of your valve cover. When the engine is running, a bit of air and oil is gonna come out of there. Normally, the air and oil are dumped back into the intake system and burnt off in the engine. The point of these catch tanks is to provide another outlet, so the oil doesn't enter the engine.

So, the catch tank will have two nipples on it, and a petcock or other valve at the bottom. The petcock is for draining the oil that collects. You just drain the tank every time you change the oil, more or less. One of the nipples is for a line from the breather on the valve cover. The other nipple is for a vent, you can either put a small K&N right on the nipple, or run a line somewhere else (down below the engine) and put the filter there, so the fumes are venting away from everything else in the engine bay.

Got it Josh, sounds pretty easy. We'll see if it isn't a bad PCV valve, and if not then I'll suggest a catch tank. Thanks again!

Make sure all the plumbing is right first. How many miles are on the motor?

The lysholm is a pretty nice SC so I doubt it's putting any oil into the pipes.
