does anyone know if you have to drop the engine to change out the cyliner shrouds

The tin? Yeah - I believe that's an engine out procedure - I think the fan shroud bolts over the top of them.

As for the oil pump - I took a peek at them - either of them would be an improvement over a 35 year old stocker - the heavy duty is cheaper than the high volume - probably not much real difference between the two.

Have you considered just adding to a single project thread?
