Smile 1974 Body off restoration

Hello, I am (still) planning a chassis restoration. However due to the (high) amount of rust on my current chassis, I was thinking about purchasing a frame in better shape, restoring it and doing an engine, tranny and body swap. I have a 74 Super Vert. I have been told the late 73's and all 74's chassis would work including hardtops. Just wanted to further verfy this with others before I start searching for a new chassis/frame. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Corey Ross (Tennessee)

Late 73 and up super only chassis will work, no standards. They changed some of the suspension parts in mid 73. Supers have strut suspension. How bad is the rust if only pans just replace them. It is better to try and keep your chassis as the VIN # is stamped on it by the shift coupler inspection plate.

Default 73 / 74 Restoration

The rust is bad, very bad. I would like send you some pics and get your opinion. I have found a good chassis (1974 Super Hardtop) about 20 miles from my house for $350 bucks. I thought it was a good deal. My driver side door is sagging and the underbody is pretty rough. The car came out of Illinois, need I say more? I appreciate the info. and comments. Cross

Say no more rust belt for sure.
$350 sounds good on the other one. Some parts will interchange like fenders, hood, deck lid and mechanicals but not the doors
