I have a sand rail dune buggy that I recently purchased. I recently came up with the idea to make it street legal. Problem is, I don't have a title. Is it possible to get a title from the Engine Code numbers located on the block? If so, is there a website or a place to call in order to do this? Once I get the VIN, I was planning to get a lost/stolen title from that. If anyone has any better ideas for me on how to make this buggy street legal....I'm all ears. Thanks and have a great day.
Probably depends on where you are located. Most states use the chassis # rather than motor #. Check with your local DMV and see what it takes to get a title on a home built,

In North Carolina, for a home built, a DMV inspecgtor will come out and if it looks street legal, will assign a VIN, and that paperwork will allow you to title it in that state.
