Bus with 914 engine

Forum newbie here. I am the previous owner of two westies (2L fuel injected) and a 73 bus carb. over the years.

My last two bus had the misfortune of being hit from behind, hard. anyway, I am looking at getting another. The 79 I am going to look at has what the seller says is a 2.0 Liter Porsche 914 engine with just around 5k on it.

Do they still make 914 engines? Any advic eor 1st hand knowledge on these engines in later modle busses?
