Default Heater Air Flow 71 SB

Hey all...glad I found this place.

Is there any good way to really push the air through the heater ducts in a 71 SB. Just hjad the engine rebuilt...works like achamp.

And...I get plenty of heat wafting up fron the floor boards...but not a lot of flow from the defrosters.

Thanks for any info in advance.

Cheers,

Tim

You can mount an electric fan under the left side rear seat that'll push more air through the system - if you do so some of the air actually makes it to the defrosters! There also used to be a gas heater kit for the AC's that mounted under the rear seat - they were pretty nifty - but I know of at least one case where a small leak resulted in a rather dramatic fire -

For the fan you want to find a 12V industrial fan that'll mount in the middle of the hose (2" or 2.5" - cannot recall) - wire it to a switch on the dash or somewhere else so you can control when to turn it on -

Also - check your ductwork to make sure paper, leaves or other "stuff" hasn't gone down from the vents into the ductwork partially blocking it - and that there's no "additional ventilation" in the wheelwell (had that on a '64) -
