ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO POP THE HOOD ON A 64 BUG? SO IT GETS BETTER VENTAGE? DO I JUST REMOVE THE SPRING OR BUY SOME KIND OF KIT?

You can buy a rear deck offset kit (they used to make 'em - they just extended the stock hinge) - we just used to unbolt the deck and use the bottom most holes on the hinge to the topmost holes on the deck to bolt 'em back on - which gave about 1.5" of offset at the top of the deck -
