Default HELP NEEDED URGENTLY!!!

Ok fellow obsessed volkswageners

I have a question for you all.. I'm about to purchase a 1955-56 oval window beetle (here in Oz)

Now the Vin number we found was 1-0935045 or 1-0935046 could not really tell (also poss 10035046?)
but I can not find any matching numbers anywhere on the internet or my books
So who knows what this car actually is ?

Thanks in advance any help is great

I tried to look online, but every site I could find said there needs to be 17 characters in the vin number. I know that isn't true for the older vehicles, but apparently vehicles after 1980 or so.

I however did find this site too.
http://www.lightner.net/ybdb/serno.html

Unless Im miss reading that it should be a 1955 because the first few numbers of the Starting Engine Serial No. are 1-09

Also because the starting Vin numbers for the 56 are higher than your possible number of
Starting Chassis Serial No. (VIN) 1 020 746
Yours 10035046

I hope that makes sense. Trust me I had to re-read what I typed a few times to understand what I was trying to say.

Default Thanks!

Thanks for all the advice! The old girl is still at the mechanics so I haven't had a chance to recheck the numbers...
