Default hub cap clips?

ok, so this is kinda a weird question. but i think this is the best place to ask it. can anyone show me how the 6 or 7" hub caps are attached. i have a set that i wanna put on my B5(see, i told you it was weird). they kinda look like the ones on dubdoc's ride. TIA

Wow - I'm stressing my memory banks for this one - but I THINK that the old (5 lug) hub caps were held by clips that were attached to the wheels (I recall using the clips to hold the spare fan belt under the hood ...) and the later (4 lug) hub caps press-fitted into the wheel - either that or they fit over four pressed-in bumps that retained the caps - I don't recall clips for the later (4 lug) rims.

Hope that helps - sorry if I'm wrong - but it's been quite a while -

Steve you are right. I ran a VW repair/Salvage bussiness for 15 years.

Wolfsberg West and many other vintage supply shops will be able to help you with the correct clips. If you want to send me your rims I will put them on for a small fee.
