Which windows
The roll-up windows or others? If others did you get the seals that take the chrome- "american" style or the "cal-look" that does not have the slot for the chrome trim
You never thought it would be this confusing did you

So you have all the pieces out of the door The vent assembly has to come out. The chrome piece is first to go in.
But on your vent window,is the piece that the roll up window goes against straight up and down or a slight angle? Does the vent lock have a push button to release to move it
The reason I ask this is 64 and down windows are smaller than 65 and up. And the doors will interchange
Are you sure you have a 66? Post the first 3 VIN#'s

i am not 100% sure it is a 66' but that's just what the guy posted it as when i bought it. i will try to post some pictures of the doors, i think just straight up and down...
Yep looks like 64 and down door
Can you post a pic of the vent latch
Also does it have a defrost outlet in the center of the windshield?
Looks nice

Need the first 3 #"s
Is the chrome trim to large for your window? I think you might have a 64 down body
66 was the first year that had the center defrost.
Do you know if if it has ball joints or king and link pin front end? 66 was the first year for ball joints.
Anything is possible with these old bugs body swaps included or VIN #'s

okay, FIRST 3 #s are 116*, i returned the seals and orderd the 65 and down seals. the out side trim is to tall to long and doesnt line up or match the one i took out.
Ok the 6 tells us that the chassis is probably a 66 with a 64 down body on it.
But the good news is the window seal should be cheaper
But for future reference you need to see if it has a ball joint front end for chassis parts. This will tell us if it is in fact a 66 chassis. The body stuff you will order from now on is 64 and down
What a learning thing these old VW's are, NO ?

Older from what I can tell. But why? The aftermarket are not that good
If you need replacements, try good used ones. Just my opinion on this.
Is there a VW shop around you ?

Those are way to much money
Mid america has them listed at $20 per. But you need to find out what year the body is for sure to get the proper handles
Do both of them have locking function
Near as I can tell 60-63 had non locking passenger side handle while 64-66 had locking handle, by that I mean with key from outside
