My Buggy Engine Is Popping!!! HELP!!!

Hey Guys....and Girls,
I have a Dune Buggy with a 1600 that is giving me some problems. Just a few particulars of the engine is Weber 32/36 progressive carb, empi heads, headers, bus tranny, aluminum front end, electronic pick up in the distributor, new plugs, new wires, new distributor cap and rotor button, lots and lots of goodies! Thing is, when I give it gas, it wants to miss and sometimes pop out the exhaust. I thought to begin with that the carb needed rebuilding but that didn't help at all. This thing is very strong but it started this about a month ago and I'm having a hard time finding out what is going on with it.
