Default Replacing rear door panels in 74 Super Beetle Convertible

New to restoration so would appreciate your help! I am just about to replace rear door panels in my convertible. Do I need any special tools to remove old panels and/or install new panels? I've tugged a bit and they don't come off easily. I want to double check before pulling too hard and breaking something. Any tips you have would be appreciated! Thanks!

Default panels

They are just pressed in with a clip. Take a wooden or plastic stick and pry them out. There is 5 or 6 clips on the top and front side. Make sure you replace the rubber cup the clips set in. I think the back seat rest stop has to be removed also?

Derf, thanks, you've been a BIG help - again! Got the door panels from JBug today but am surprised that they don't include any clips...... I guess I pry the old door panels off and use the old clips? I thought panels have clips and plug into vehicle, not the other way around.......Hmmm, confused.....

Why include them when they will sell you some new for AJBP (additional jbug profit)
And yes they are hooked onto the panel. They get old and brittle and may break but not always. If you don't have any new and some break, just stagger them(every other hole) and you will be OK on the rear. But on the front you pretty much need them all to hold the panel in place for when you close the door the panel will prolly come unattached. But be careful about installing them as they are not as thick as the original. And make sure you use the correct holes for your car. These are many year fit so extra holes punched into them. If you need new clips, get them before you install the panels. They are not "user friendly" for trying to remove.
