A friend of mine and I converted a 1960 or 1961 (just cannot recall) back in the mid 1970's - so I can speak to converting an early beetle - your mileage may vary ....
The gauges and glovebox swapped -
there were threaded bosses for the steering column mount under (what had been) the glovebox - there were the chassis was also all set up for the pedals - including the mount for the master cylider.
Brake lines were swapped left to right
Steering box was relocated - tie rods swapped left to right
I'm thinking it took us a (rather full) weekend - I recall doing some welding but cannot for the life of me recall WHAT we were welding - it may have been part of the conversion, it may have been fresh floors ... sorry ... 30 years is a long time.
It was pretty nifty when we were done - and as the driver you actually got the GOOD seat ..... not sure what happened to it .... if it's still alive it's in the Philadelphia PA area ...
