swing axle end play tolerance

I am converting the rear brakes on my 1967 Ghia from drum to disk. The caliper bracket is thicker than the backing plate I removed, so there is added end play to the point where the disk hits the caliper. I know how I am going to repair the problem, but I need to know the minimum and maximum tolerances.
