Default Dub and Rub - Show N Shine for Breast Cancer - 6/21 - Pine G

I'm posting this for a friend of mine that hasn't made it over to the local VW sites yet. She is planning a laid back Show N Shine event to benefit the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program.

There should also be information at Volksfest at the end of the month as well as the info posted here. If you have ANY questions, please post them here, and I will get some answers as they arise.

Thanks!

( additional info on http://gti16v.com/drubsho.htm#drubsho )

June 21st at Twin Grove Park, in Pine Grove will be the Inaugural Dub and Rub show and shine benefiting the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fund raiser.

The show will be 9-3pm, registration will start at 9 and last until noon, judging until 1pm and announcements of winners to follow shortly afterwards (shooting for a 2-2:30 awards presentation)

This is open to ALL AIR and WATER cooled VW's, as it is being put on by members of HAVOC... the same people that bring you things like Volksfest and the ever popular A1 invasion that several shows in recent years have been modeled after.

There are 8 categories set up:
- Saggy Award (lowered cars),
- Best Implants (most bodywork)
- Junk in the Trunk (systems)
- Best Topless (convertibles)
- Au Naturale (daily driver)
- Best Cleavage (best display)
- Perkiest (high performance)
- Best Supportive (most supportive of breast cancer awareness).

Registered vehicles $10
spectators over the age of 12 $1.

There's a small amusement park onsite, mini golf and an ice cream shoppe as well. Twin Grove Park Campground for more information on the park/campground.

Directions:
* Take Interstate 81 to Pine Grove (exit 100).
* Continue west on Route 443 for five miles.
* Twin Grove Park and Campground is on the right.

This is to be a fun laid back show-n-shine for a very serious cause not to be made light of.

50/50 tickets, t-shirts, and vinyl will be available for sale/donation
Twin Grove is going to have their "camp kitchen" open to us and easily accessible to the fields. No grilling is allowed in the open fields! Coolers are okay, but please keep things under wraps.

PICK UP YOUR TRASH! and Keep it clean. This is in a family environment, so respect those around that aren't part of the event please.

If anyone wants to do a swap meet type exchange that's fine (a small donation for the space would be greatly appreciated), please post up any questions here, or feel free to contact Sharon @ sharonpowley@gmail.com for any further information.

Let's see some DDubs!!

Talking Shirts are in

The t-shirts are in, and they are snazzy looking if I do say so myself.
I also have corresponding vinyl clings. I am very stoked about the show, and hope everyone who comes has a good time!

Just to clarify a few points: There will be spectator parking, and show car parking. The classes are being judged by the people with the ballots. Everyone who is registered gets one, but if you pay $1 spectators can judge too. Each ballot is set up with a brief "generic" description about each class, and the person holding the sheet decides which car they think best fits that description. When you register, you'll get a placard to put in the windshield to designate a "show" car. There will be people helping to park the show field, but that is more to keep a good flow and not have "dead ends" or gridlock.
There's 8 awards, 1 per class, plus raffle prizes and random "door prizes" for the registered folks.

Twin Grove has a very definite "no alcohol" policy on their website. Since it's their fields, we have to abide by that also.

The t-shirts will be $15, vinyl is $3 and once some expenses are covered, the proceeds will go to ACS. If anyone not attending wants a t-shirt or vinyl or bracelet, I'd like you to email me (sharonpowley@gmail.com) and you can either paypal me the money + S&H, and I'll mail them out...or if you're local we can meet somewhere.
In the next few days, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me.

Default Tomorrow

Ahh, it's almost here!
Just to let you know, when you pull into Twin Grove tomorrow there'll be a "gate" you go through. Someone will be taking spectator donations ($1) and directing you to the field area. Someone will be there to hand you the registration form, and instruct you to the show field or spectator parking. The field itself is pretty nice, no holes, rocks etc. If you're lowered, be cautious and take it easy. They'll be 2 EZUps under a tree on the field where you can register, buy t-shirts...etc. I'll be there--Sharon.

Thumbs up Thanks to you all!

We had such an amazing turnout! I haven't sat down for an official anything yet, but I know we had at least 90 registered cars, sold 62 t-shirts and raised a good bit of money for breast cancer awareness!
I was so ecstatic to see the first VW's roll in at 9am.

THANK YOU!

Sharon and Jason

Smile Huge Thanks!

Jason and I want to thank everyone for coming out on Saturday! For being a first year show, we had 90 registered cars, around 100 spectators, and sold 62 T-shirts.
After paying the bills we raised $1333. We are so happy with the results, that we plan to do it again next year!
Thanks again for all your generosity!
