Default One Big Ass VW Forum GTG

Since there is always GTG's in York and ABE, why don't we have one big ass GTG?? Make it a annual event, where Forum members can meet outside of car shows. I know when I'm at shows most the time I'm too busy cleaning to interact with other VWF members. We could make it part of the VWF Tour....

What do you guys think??

Any ideas???

We could change locations from year to year. One year be in York, and the next in ABE. I would be willing to drive to ABE for like a weekend GTG, drive up Friday and stay at some hotel, then have the GTG Saturday.

This is just an idea, but if alot of people are willing to participate then we would have to find a good location. Once we get feedback then we'll worry about location.

*UPDATED*
Here's the current list of shows for 2004. April is almost over so that's out of the question. May & June both have two shows a month. So I'm thinking July, August, or September.

April 24 Volksfest - Campbelltown, PA
May 2 IMPORT WAR 3 - Hershey, PA
May 22 Dubs on the Lake - McHenry, MD
June 13 VW SuperJam XVII - Maple Grove Raceway-Mohnton, PA
June 19-20 IMPORT WAR 2x - Ski Roundtop-Lewisberry, PA
July 17-18 Waterfest 10 - Enghlishtown, NJ
August 21-22 TUNER WAR - York, PA
September 25-26 H2O International - Ocean City, MD
October 10 Fall VW Show & Go - Raceway Park Englishtown, NJ[/b]

I knew somehow I would get elected leader, but no thanks I'll leave it to the pro's.
I'm not a professional GTG planner like you Db Hell, you even got your own sticker

Here's what I was thinking: Let just say for example it's in York

Friday
Meet up a Sam's club, for just a small GTG, hangout, cruise the circuit
Maybe do some mini-golf or go-carts
York has some fairly cheap Hotels/motels

Saturday
I guess we would have to find a park, something with alot of parking
Plus also have some food (Burgers, Dogs and Soda)
If everyone would help split the bill, the more people the cheaper the cost.
It depends we might have to rent a pavillion, but that should be too bad.
Maybe some place with recreations (baseball, volleyball)
Have a raffle for some free VWF goodies

These are just ideas
If any York people(or anyone) that knows a great location, let me know.

Great Idea

Longs park in Lancaster might be a good host. I don't think its fair to make the AEB crew come to us (but if they don't have a problem with it then all the better)

We could easily host it here in York tho. I think the idea of a BBQ might suit better. Hotels here in York are cheep ($45 a night for some crap place I just looked at)

Lets get everyones feedback on a location and then start planning this...When does everything think is a good time? Theres a show like every other weekend this summer so we can squeeze it in there somewhere. Mabye here in York on the night before Imports on the Hill then take the 20min drive to roundtop? Just some ideas...leave feedback.

i would like t have huge gtg for the vwf. Longs Park is a great plae to have one of these. I think we all should meet up to the night before imports on the hill. That would be a great thing. WE all could finally meet each other or those who do not know anyone.

ahhh, jason.... now you know why i was trying to get jon to post a feeler... hahahaa!
no, i am sure, with the right amount of lead time ...... some if not most of the abe crew would mind a little cruise up to york..... the drive wasn't that bad when i came out to your place jason....
i like the idea of a moving yearly gtg for this... that way year one : groungd zero will be york, pa... then the next can be somewhere else, and so and so forth as to not always put the driving on the same people every year!
i for one will be glad to work with whom ever to make this gtg happen.... things get to wrapped up at the shows... this would be just for us VWForum guys and gals!

I wouldn't know the first place to start for putting this together!!! The only place I know that would be a good place is close to the Maryland line. The only draw back is there's not too many hotels around. So maybe if Dakota or whoever does the planning for the ABE crew want to work something up. That's fine by me.. York, ABE where ever!!!!
I just wanted to give my opinion on some of the events we could do for the GTG.
I figured out the "WHAT" now if someone could figure out the "WHEN" "WHERE"

I would like to have this GTG on a weekend with no shows. I ckecked the VWF tour and there's a good bit of space between some of the shows.[/b]

Locations in or near York
Delco
Rudy Park
Longs Park (Lancaster)

I'm not sure of to many places near the maryland line. I still think Longs Park is a good location. Its a qucik 15-20min drive up 30 from York, very easy to get to.

rt 30 is full of cheep hotels so that shouldn't be a problem... When do we want to do this? June, July, Aug?

I like Jasons idea of York this year, another location next year.

you york guys have bigger gtgs anywho... so i'm down with having it in york..... so we got where now the when is a bigger issue... we need a weekend free of shows and enough notice that ppl can plan to make the trip and reservations and other junk like that.... lets get some dates tossing around and well see what a few ppl think by posting a poll for the most popular dates.... well jason, for someone who doesn't know the first thing about putting together a gtg.... your doing just fine. i set times and dates for the abe gtgs so you could always ask me a few questions if need be and , correct me if i'm wrong but dakoda.... i would assume you're sorta conrtolling the gtgs for york? so i am sure we want this to go down just as much as anyone else....

I'm up for whenever. Just name the time and place and I'll be there. I have no problem with contributing to this. When it gets closer to the date, we should make a list of who's all coming and we each could bring something. Food or beverage.

Sounds like Aug. works best...Unless theres alot of objection, lets plan it for August.

Now, do we want to have a GTG or more of an all day BBQ/GTG.... This will help determin the location...

I vote for a BBQ
