Default Toys for Tots Drive - Harrisburg Version- 11/11/07

Sunday November 11, 2007

This was originally planned for the week prior to the Philly / DCI drive (11/4/07) - but some scheduling conflicts with the Marines I deal with pushed it back a week - to fall on the same weekend as the Philly deal. On the downside - I don't want to take away anything from those guys - we are a 2nd year drive, and they've been well established for several years now. the upside of it - all you Pittsburgh guys can swing by on your way back to the Iron City on your way home the next morning!!

Besides - regardless as to who does what where... it ALL goes to help the same group in need.

Alright guys! Sorry for the delay in getting information out - I have been waiting for it myself.

I will be going around in the next week or two and rounding up some hopefully cool prizes like last year... big thanks to last years "sponsors" who donated several hundred dollars of goodies that were raffled off.
AP Tuning - Lebanon
HA Boyd VW - Lebanon
CVM VW - Mechanicsburg
Wolfes VW / Audi - Grantville/Harrisburg
Wagner's VW - Grantville
O'Brian Audio - Hummelstown

Planned Schedule:

9am - 11:30am Meet at Penn National Grantville - 720 Bow Creek Road - Grantville, PA 17028
11:30 the cruise leaves Penn National via rt 81 for Harrisburg
12:00 or so the cruise arrives at the Marine Corps Reserves Center on North 2nd Street
12:00 on - Raffle prizes to be drawn, tailgating, and all around good time.

** RAIN (or snow) OR SHINE **

As with last year, until the group coming gets too big to be manageable, we will still hold the cruise. Hopefully we can keep everyone in line, and without incident - just like the 1st year.

Google Directions of the route.

The end point location was changed from last year - it will NOT end on City Island. It will now end at the USMC Reserve Center on N. 2nd Street in Harrisburg. This location allows us to be our own group, not have to worry about other people, tailgating allowed at the location, and it works out well for the Marines as well.

Some of the questions I've fielded so far:
- bring at least one new, unwrapped toy for donation
- we will have raffle prizes of some sort
- tailgating will be permitted at the end of the cruise, bring your schtuff
- no alcohol, racing, burnouts, etc. keep it simple, or keep it at home.
- the Toys for Tots organization only passes out their donation boxes at the beginning of November - if anyone would like some for their place of employment - let me know, and I can arrange to get some.
- date change from the original date of 11/4 was due to a conflict of schedules with the USMC Reserves that I work with on this.

how's about a BUMP for more interest

ask anyone that was there last year - we had a really good chill time.

I've already begun to line up some things for the raffle bags, as well as working on getting some food there as well.

we CAN have a tailgate party afterwards (so bring your portable grilles and burgers and cook em up - just no alcohol).

I have a friend at PSU Altoona that will be putting up some flyers, as well as organising a cruise from there. Lancaster was well represented last year too.

I'm most likely going to dig into my pockets again this year, and fund a couple of the other prizes too

<3 Sounds big. I'm excited! Bump for an excellent cause. Come out if you are in the CePA area.
