My friend removed a boot from his car in Bean-town a few years back, by deflating the tire, and driving off...he got a ticket in the mail a few months later for about 5 times the amount of the original sitation. So be warned...it's not fool proof...in the states anyway.

He did, and it sat in his apartment under the coffee table for months...I don't recall what happened to it though.
