itunes question

I just got a nano....and i bought some songs on itunes. but as far as burnnig a cd with those songs, the only way i can do it is through itunes? i tired using my other burning program and it says that the i tunes songs are protected and arent compatable to play in windows media or burn through nero. anyone have any sugestions? it would be nice to have them all in like an mp3 format or something to put on a cd for backup or just to play elsewhere. im new to this and i pretty much dont have a clue. help me out.

Your solution is to burn it using itunes. Then you can re-import it from the Cd with no restrictions. Then you can make a back up of the MP3's.
