hmm ill jump in on the conversation even though i am unsure on what to think...yes i believe drugs can force a person to ask differently then you really are..BUT nothing of an "altered" state of mind can push you past ur maximum boundries.(in some cases) i beleive he should do some time...but 30 years as a 15 year old or however old he is...might be a bit harsh..its hard to say what they should and shouldnt do to the kid..cuz either way you look at it..its just horrible..

Lets take into fact that if he was over lets say 16 there would hardly be an uproar. If he was older, there would have been two options for the jury life in prison or death, but seeing how he was 'mentally' ill they would never sentence this kid to death. Seeing how he had remorse/sense to hide things meant he knew what he was doing and the jury made the right decision. All this will do is give more idiots out there another excuse to commit haneous crimes and place the blame on somebody else. Which is a shame that our society is turning that way. just my .02..
I'm not sure burning the house down proves or shows remorse - I can't say what his mental state was but this one fact alone doesn't seem to be enough.

This brings up an important issue of what service is our judicial system is supposed to provide: punishment, rehabilitation, or some combo of both and how much of each. Obvoiusly part of this is protecting society at large by having these people locked up but what's to say he won't do the same thing again when he gets out?
I think that we all agree that if this kid gets placed in prison, that he probably won't live to see his 25th birthday, for obvious reasons...(Bubba comes to mind)
I think it depends what prison it is and everything - I would think he would be in juvenile until he turns 18. Perhaps not though...
Depends on the state, but I think that if you are tried as an adult you go to adult prison's at least in PA..

not that I'm saying anything about this case but I don't think 12 year olds should be on anti-depresents. that has to mess up your development (much like using other drugs at this stage of your life can).

I did a nice long paper in college about this issue. People in general just look for the "quick fix" of problems by popping pills here and there without really working out the problem. The medication doesn't solve anything, it just "get's you by."....

Regarding him going to an adult prison, in almost all instances juveniles that are convicted as adults are segregated from the general population for their safety.

that seems reasonable. while they are in prison there is some responsibility on the system to protect them (I'm sure a lot of people would argue with this but an instance of a non-guilty person getting locked up it makes one feel better).

Yea that and a big inmate named Bubba would probably love that 15 year old prime piece of ass!
