Default ? about key & security on 99 a4

The other week i changed the battery on my keyfob, the key locks and unlocks and opens the rear hatch properly however i noticed that my security LED's on my drivers and passenger side doorlocks don't blink, and if you try to get into the car when locked the alarm won't trip, when i hit the panic button on the keyfob it makes the alarm go off, i'm just wondering if i have to do something to the remote now to get my security to activate when i hit the door Lock button, anyone else even have this problem? i can also tell you that before i replced the battery when i would lock the doors the security would activate as it should, and it is a stock security system......

Have you tried messing with the button motion button that is on the inside of the car? Its the one on the drivers side next to the left side of your seat.

It sounds like the central locking is working, but the alarm is not arming. Are the dome lights working properly when each door is opened? My first impression is that the microswitch in one of the door locks is inop causing the alarm not seeing the door closed, therefore not arming I replaced these quite often due to that problem.

thats gotta be it..... the other day i had the car locked but needed something out of the hatch, so i hit the trunk/hatch open button on the remote got what i needed then closed the trunk when the trunk closed the car beep'd like it normally would when the alarm is armed and the LED's on the doors were blinking...... guess it has nothing to do with the keyfob battery and everything to do with the the hatch close micro-switch, thanks for the advice!!
