Default complete front control arm replacement

Yea so the front of my car creaks like every other audi a4 quattro out there but its getting real annoiying, i though it was the front struts then thought it was sway bar bushings, but after searching every audi forum for a "creaking" thread i've discovered that its just better to repleace the entire front control arm assembly with a new kit and this will resolve the creaking problem, my question is.... has anyone (audi owners on this forum) ever done this themselves??? i have no air tools but am rather mechanically inclined... and i've jacked the front end up and fully inspected visually all of the control arms as they are now..... is this a job i should try to do on my own or is it better to just spend the money and have a dealership or audi mechanic do the job???

any input is a plus

If you have a good selection of hand tools, ie. sockets, wrenches, prybars and airtools, it can be done. I do these things all day long and can tell you that to do it at home on a jack is not going to be fun at all. If you can afford it I would have someone else do it for you. Alot of guys use a needle grease fitting and inject grease into all the joints and drive them, that is as long as they dont have play already. The creaking will go away in several days as the grease works into the joint.

Good Luck, Kevin

Kevin much thanks for the reply, i'm gonna try using some grease to figure out which joints making the noise maybe that way i won't have to replace every control arm and bushing....

Thanks for the reply, yeah i'm gonna order the kit... cheapest i've found is $450 , not sure if i'm gonna attempt it myself yet or not, i have no air tools or torches to loosen bolts.... i know a few mechanics so i may buy the kit and have them do the labor............... undecided......... but as soon as this is fixed i can start doing other things to the car....
