Default The TT died

Well i've only told a few people on here what has happened to my car but since i know what exactly going on, i thought i share...

(from a post on a TT forum)
OK this all started when i was heading to the airport to fly out for Christmas. On my way there my CEL came on and when i was stopped the idle seemed a little rough. When i gotg back from my vacation i had a chance to bring the car to dealer to get looked at and they said that the CEL came on because of a misfire in #4 and that the spark plug was bad. They changed out all of the plugs and everything seemed OK for the next two days...

Well on Tuesday (jan 3rd) when i was driving to work (2 hour drive... stupid consulting work) my CEL came back on and it seemed like the same thing as before. Well last night the CEL turned off and everything seemed good again until this morning. On my drive in i was going into 4th and all the sudden the car became sluggish and the CEL was blinking. this stopped after 10 seconds when i came to a light. I wanted to check things out so i floored it to see if it was still slugish and everything seemed fine through the first couple of gears then all the sudden when i was pulling into the clients office it becames sluggish again and the CEL was blinking again then turned off.

The car died on me when i was heading back to the hotel that night. I was getting onto the highway and all the sudden the engine got rough and the engine light stayed blinking. When i came to a complete stop the engine just died on me. I got it started back up but was real rough and had to keep it above idle. The hotel was only a mile down the road so i drove there and on my way noticed i was buring a lot of oil and before i pulled into the parking lot the oil light also came on.

it turns out there is no compresion in #4... the same one they said had a bad spark plug the previous week. they do not know what's causing this yet and hopefully will no sometime this week. after talking with the tech and telling him all thats been going on, he thinks a valve might be stuck open...

Well after almost a week of the car breaking down, finally have the final verdict of what's going on. It turns out there was a hole in the piston and there were some bolts missing from the manifold. They are going to be replacing the short block pistons, valves and a whole bunch of other shit... which means bascily a rebuilt engine with almost all new parts. the service rep said she was trying for a totally brand new engine but the regional rep will not go for that. I'm glad this dealer is doing a good job in replacing everything unlike some some dealers that wouldn't.

I'm still waiting for the shortblock to come in which hopefully is today. I'm so glad that this is a CPO car or else i would be paying out of my ass to get this fixed. I'm in contact with the original dealer that replaced the spark plugs to see if i can get anything back since i never needed to get them replaced. Also i'm trying to figure out how they made this car a CPO with bolts missing from the manifold. Audi prides themselves on their CPO and how they are very picky about what cars are CPO'ed. From talking with a few other people, it seems like this problem of Cyl #4 crapping out is not uncommon on the 2001 225s (watch out Brett!!)

Alright, i'm done ranting, just missing the car since i haven't had it for almost 2 weeks now.

I would probably just cry and walk everywhere. Fortunately the only thing that has broken on me so far is under the clean air act extended 70k warranty (MAF sensor).
