Default Wheel Color

I want to repaint my wheels, the finish is chipping off (they're not curbed at all) and there's some brake dust I cant' get off for the life of me, I tried 3 types of wheel cleaner, a wheel brush, rough sponge, and aluminum polish. I'm thinking since I'm doing it anyway, maybe do a different color. I was thinking either gunmetal or bronze. I'm bad at this matching game, so what do you all think. In my head the bronze looks really good...that's at the top of my list now.

PS - My wheels are Aristos.

PSS - Here's a photoshop(obviously different wheels, for color comparison purposes only)...

i think its going to be hard to get a different color to look right because of all the spokes... i think a light gunmetal would work the best

Why do you say that? I know you know your stuff when it comes to this, so I'd definitely like to hear your opinion on it.

powdercoat bronze would look awesome, and powdercoating would give less chance for future chipping, and powdercoating can be reasonably priced!!!!!!!

gunmetal or refinish them, bronze would look poppy because it would look extreemly busy with all the spoke and no lip.

yeah i didnt really know how to explain what i was saying... i mean since there are so many spokes so close together if u did a flat color like black or bronze they would kinda all blend together....i would do something with some kind of an effect in the paint like the silver they come in or gunmetal so all the spokes can still be distinguished from each other

like how the spokes are more distinguished on a finish like this

compared to a flat color like this

with the amount of spokes on a aristos a darker flat color would just blend them all together... so i would go with a lighter painted color with a mettalic effect like silver, gunmetal, light gold...

I was going to do a pretty light bronze color...I defnietely don't want anything too dark. If I do gunmetal I may use the paint brian used on his Montreals or I may go a bit lighter, definitely no darker though. Now how do you think the light bronze/gold would look on a red car? I think it would look kind of bla on Tornado red, but mine is Amulet red, a bit darker.

Josh made some really good points. You do lose a lot of the detail in the wheel if you painted them black. Why not get them powdercoated silver? I know its the same but you'll have much better luck with powdercoat rather than paint.

What about color matching them?

$$$ This is definitely a budget project. Worst case...they don't come out good and I have to get them redone professionally. Brian said he's has good luck with his though and my friends came out good on his Rabbit, so I'm hopeful.

Even paint on my Kreuz's is horrible and pealing, and that is professional factory paint... Painted wheels never stay nice.

Yeah I figure I'll just have to paint them every year or two, only $15 or so and a few hours of my time...probably won't have them for a really long time anyway, I'll get bored with them.

Brett. if you could find a wheel paint that was "champagne" in color, I think that would be awesome. Around the same color of the pchop you showed up top. I think that would look top notch. And remember...clear coat.
