Default Bye Bye GX3

AutoWeek magazine said that, Volkswagen is poised to kill the three wheeled GX3. Volkswagen went on to say that the GX3 could create huge legal bills for VW under U.S. liability laws. VW is still thinking of its productions.....but my thoughts are that it doesnt look good.

that is so gay. How is there liability issues? To own one you need a motorcycle licence and the car is no more dangerous than any other motorcycle. I would buy one of those cars in a heart beat since it is the closest thing I can get to an Ariel Atom in the US.

oh, for sure id buy one in a heart beat, the Autowek magazone stated "GX3's future is an doubt over worries it could create huge legal bills for VW under U.S. liability laws. The low slung GX3 legally would have been considered a motorcycycle, meaning VW could have engineered it to different standards then a car.But blurring the line between cycle and a car could be too risky. A final decision is still some weeks awaybut insiders are resigned to the GX3dying despitethousands oh hours of researchand development and design work.its not final yet, but things have really changed in the last few weeks, says a source, and we dont think we can do it. Lotus engineerings ride and handling experts had been evaluating the GX3 at the Hethel race track, and the company also was advising on low-volume production methods. Only a few weeks ago VW insiders were confident the GX3 would get the green light, with a production start in mid-2007. VW had even decided to build the car in the United States, instead of Wolfsburg. So keep yuor fingers crossed because I wish it comes over

Do not dismay, On our British TV Screens last night - programme Top Gear - they said that the GX3 is in joint production with Lotus, they showed a pic of it thus confirming the above post and didnt say it had been scrapped, so dont lose heart yet GX3 fans, it may still be going ahead. Top Gear are very well respected and car firms rely on them hugely for their reviews so it may be winging its way across the pond soon.
