You guys realize that VW had a working (THAT's RIGHT... WORKING) W16 Motor at the 2002 Frankfurt Auto Show?

Volkswagen got challenged by some critics during VIP pre-show and they did turn the engine on to show that it is really functional. Sick or what?

That engline will eventually find it's way into the Bugatti and other VW's subsidaries (sp?).

thats sweet! i heard that they are putting a quad-turbo on a w16 on the bugatti Veyron. it has like 1001 BHP and like, its only 8 liter engine. and the damn Cattilac (sp?) sixteen is like a 13 liter engine with 1000 BHP. i mean, its a lot, but VW makes more power with less space! go VW go! the stats on the bugatti Veyron are on www.vwvortex.com

As per the Pheaton?
I was at the Hockey game last week and they have one of these at the Air Canada Centre (home of the Toronto Maple Leafs).

METROPOLIS (December 2002)magazine did a full feature story on the new Phaeton Factory-it is one bad-ass building/factory. The architecture(sp?) is really awesome. "VW'S BIG BET- will watching your car get made make you love it more?...Volkswagen's new Glass Factory, in Dresden, allows visitors to see cars being manufactured using new production techonolgy such as the "fish-scale" conveyer belt on which this chassis is mounted." I will post some pics of the mag later on today. Just wondering...would an W8 fit in a GTI or jetta engine bay? just wondering...would be one bad ass car, thats for sure. in that article, it says the phaeton will run for about $55,000 and the ones with the W12 will go for more than $100,000.

yea, pricing will be about the same as Audi A8/S8 and BMW 7-series cars. Dunno how well this will help with the VW/Audi differentiation?
