Victory/Autohaus Harrisburg: Sales people are weak....service blows. Body shop is so-so. Recently had drivers side door repaired had to take it back for scratches and door handle issues. Handle still isn't right. Paint turned out good. Next car will be bought at HA Boyd in lebanon...

Cook VW in Fallston, Maryland

I just bought my GTI there and I am a previous employee. I'm not saying they are great because I use to work there, Im saying it because its the truth. Chris Greaver was my salesman and he knew what car fit me best and then tried hard to get me in that car! If you live in the area and are in the Market, ask for Chris and tell him Jessica Mercer sent ya! I do plan to take my car back for my services in the future. Mike Morrison and Tim Moore are 2 of the coolest service writers I have ever come across, at any Dealership! Both mod dubs and are full of useful and sometimes useless info and are just great people to talk dubs with. The techs are dubbers too. Its nice going to a dealership and finding that the people that work there are as much into their VW's as you are, so its like they "get it". I know most of you guys are in PA and NJ, but if you ever do some traveling in Baltimore and North East MD and you are in need of service to your dub, this is the place to go.

Ulrich's VW - Plowville, PA (it's out by maple grove raceway) they were really good to me when I had the jetta. If i needed a junk part they'd let me go out back and pull what i needed and let me have it for a reasonable price. They do good work and know their early dubs.

On the other hand, there used to be a lady who worked at the parts counter there (don't think she's there anymore), she was totally clueless, ordered the wrong parts for me one time, and then when I was trying to get the correct parts she just handed me the keyboard and mouse and let me find it in ETKA myself and she actually said "I really don't know what I'm doing here"
amen. jonathan really does know his stuff. if you go in there enough, youll notice that he starts calling you buy ur first name and you dont have to tell him what type of car you have anymore, haha. he def has helped out a lot with some of the stupid questions that need answers to, and has told me how things go together numerous times.

Stohlman VW/ Subaru: Tysons Corner, VA. pretty busy dealership. its hard to get service appointments unless you want to wait for a month or so...unless you know people there. there are a couple of decent salesmen there, Stefan Tyrie being the best. bought my 20th from him and hes a great guy and gets me service appoinments whenever i need them, regardless of the wait. hes a fellow enthusiast that had a 20th and now a R32. fairly mod-friendly dealership if you ask for the right techs.

Rule VW/ Honda: Staunton, VA. a much slower dealership; you can get servicing whenever you want. knowledgeable people and has been open since 1966. havent experienced their sales staff, but im sure they are quite good.

Flow VW/ Mazda: Charlottesville, VA. havent been there yet, but we are moving to charlottesville this summer, so i will update this post then.

Langan VW - Meriden & Glastonbury, CT: Great sales department! My transaction went quickly and smoothly, they are very knowledgable. Even though they didn't seem to be that into modding their cars, they do understand people who do. All of them I talked to do love their dubs. I bought my car from Bob, the sales manager, and he was a really good guy. Yesterday we talked about all the different generations and what we like and dislike for half an hour or so. I personally went to their location in Meriden. The other location, in Glastonbury, has a salesman named Dutch, who is from holland. In 1989 he was the top VW salesman in the US, and is still the best in new england.

Fairfax Volkswagen:
I have been there several times to get parts and for technical questions. The parts counter guy, Ken, rocks and always seems to have the patrs I need. He was even able to get the selector shaft in 1 day. And the tech, Don, can answer any technical question you have regarding your VW.

Default horrible experience

Lancaster Preowned on Manheim Pike in Lancaster PA [they have other locations in york as well] This place had a bad reputation for being shady and now with my experience....its gonna get even worse. Theres no way in hell I'm going to let anyone I like go to LPO.

About 3 weeks ago, I saw my car sitting out front so the next day I went to look at it. As soon as I drove up and got out of my car, someone came out. He seemed nice...whatnot. Asked if I knew what kind of car I wanted, and since I knew I wanted a 1.8T or a VR6 GTI, I said yea and asked to see my car. He wemt in, grabbed the keys and let me take it out.....He let me drive it for probably 20 minutes, on the highway too which was decent.

so we get back to the dealership and he asks if its something id be interested in. I say yea and we go inside...and start filling out paperwork. The price was a little more than I wanted to pay but whatever, i loved this car. I said id think about trading my car in so they take a look at it and tell me its probably not worth it. anyways....the credit approval ends up taking about 4 hours....meanwhile, he loans the car out to me and tells me to go to lunch and come back in an hour and that when i came back, my car would be washed, gased up and ready for me to take. While I'm gone, one of the keyless remotes dies. So I'm seriously at this dealership for 6 hours that day. Finally the credit shit comes back and he starts talking out the numbers with me....and my interest rate is 15% which he neglected to tell me until after the papers were signed.

so finally i get to go home with my car, but NOT as it being mine since they waited so long to get a hold of my insurance company....so they had to write out loaner papers again and told me to come back tomorrow and theyd fix my key and finally wash my car and fill up the gas tank. So I come back the next day, and its pretty much for nothing; they cant do shit about my key...because they need to order a new one, and my car still isnt gonna be washed or anything.

They tell me to come back two days later, by this time the car is MINE. So I bring it back in, JASON YOUNG [my salesman] takes me to get gas [the idiot puts 87 in] and get my car washed, which was supposed to be done the day i signed the papers. They said they were finally going to fix my other remote but apparently "they" sent over the wrong one, i guess from a different year or model because it didnt fit. Told me theyd call me when it was in. They never called....So after all of this, i finally get my car and im having fun with it. The next morning, I go to get in, and it stalls. I start it again, and it stalls. I'm like hmm, it didnt do this at the dealer. I have a full warrenty for 3 months so I call....and theyre like, oh let us know if it keeps doing it. I said ok. So two days later, we get tons of storms, and my cars sitting out in the rain.....the next morning I get in my car, and theres water everywhere. The seats soaked, the dash, the ceiling the whole way back to the middle of the moonroof. So I blow off work, take this car in, and they tell me to bring it back tuesday, that they cant do anything till then. That was on friday morning...with more storms coming and me without a garage. So i raise hell, and finally, after talking to the service managaer, he offers me a rental [they promise you one if anyone happens to the car in the contract, jason clearly explained that when he was going over the paper work so i dont see why he didnt just say hed giveme a rental from the beginning] So they give me a filthy, greasy jetta....their lot rental i guess. I spoke to the service manager the day i picked up my car, and i asked him....what are we going to do when my interior is stained from the water? He said, we'll wait and see when its all dried out. I also told him about the stalling problem....it had done it about 8 times since the first time and he said theyd look at that too. so tuesday afternoon they call me to pick up my car and i go in....the interior is stained.

the service manager wasnt in, so when i got home, i left him a message....he didnt return my call. 2 weeks later he still wont return my calls. AND my car still stalls.

Granted, i know i bought a used car....but for as much as i paid, i dont think i should be getting run around like this. I should have listened to everyone when they said stay away from LPO.

Howard Cooper Imports VW, Ann Arbor, MI - great dealership in my opinion, this is where my jetta came from back in 2001 and we haven't had a problem with them whatsoever since. Friendly sales and service, informative, and know their stuff.

Maple Hill Auto Group VW, Kalamazoo, MI -this is the dealership I go to when I am at school. So far they have treated me right. They replaced my waterpump under warranty and all o;f the other work that I've had done was A OK. Service people are very nice and friendly.

Good idea, interesting read. I know of Fryuaff's experience, but I'd be interested Kaos in why you had problems at Faulkner.

Karmart VW- Burlington, WA- I bought my 02 GTi 1.8T from them in December of 01. My mom and I went in after church to look for a new car for her. Well, we both drove home in new cars that day. She got her 02 Passat and I got my GTi. My salesman was awesome! He worked with me and wasn't pushy about anything at all. I test drove a black one and wanted silver so, they grabbed a silver one from the back lot that still had all the protective plastic on it and only has about 3.4 miles on it. I told them I really wanted the car, but my only problem was that I was on leave from the Air Force, stationed in TX and I would have no way of getting the car back there. Well, they shipped it to me at no cost and promised me a free detail job when I came back. Also, when my car was getting detailed, I saw a set of Michelin Pilot Sports sitting in the back and I asked about what it would take to get them on my car. They swapped my Regular Michelins for the Sports at no cost to me. They were supposed to go on to an Audi TT but they just ordered another set for them. They also debadged the car for me and put in a set of the rubber floor mats at no charge since my mats were still in the back of the car and were never used. I drove my car around home when I was on leave and brought it back in the day before I flew back to TX. They got it on a truck the same day I left and got it a week later. I drove back to WA in April and when I went in to the dealer, I got a Remus exhaust installed and a BOV and N75. When I was there, they fullfilled there promise about the detail and did a FULL detail job to it. When I got her back, she looked brand new. It took them about 8 hours or so to do everything, but they gave me a loaner GTi to use when mine was being worked on. By far the best service ever!!

Valley Imports- Fargo, ND- I am now stationed in Grand Forks, ND and I have wrecked my GTi and now own a 99 MkIII Jetta VR6. This dealer sucks!! They also sell Mercedes, Porsche, and Audi so VW is the redheaded stepchild. I cannot think of anything nice to say about them except that they have a free popcorn machine and soda fountain in the service waiting area. I'd rather drive up to Winnepeg or Minniapolis than go to these idiots!
