Default good place to fix my rust in my rockers and get them smooth?

I need to fix rust in my rockers, one side is pretty bad, the other not so bad. Since I'll be doing that, I might as well get them smoothed and painted. I got an estimate from the body shop I used last year for 1032$. I thought that was a little high. Any opinions, advice? I wanted it done before Waterfest, which is possible at this shop, but the price is just a lot for me to afford. Any good shops local to Allentown, Reading, York, etc... I thought about calling RMA, but I'm sure they are busy and won't be able to get it done for then, plus thats a bit far I think.

with anything? i used conrad's last summer and i was really happy with the work, part of the reason i wish i had the money to go back there, but i don't think i can afford that before waterfest especially with trying to get tires and my fenders rolled yet for my new wheels.

Finding someone to cut outthe odl metal and insert new is a lot of work. Thats the right way to do it. $1023 doesn't sound too bad if they are actually doing it right. Is it a lot of rust, meaning holes, or just surface stuff?

yea, i guess it doesn't since the other shop side maybe 1k per side. its holes... here's what i posted on vortex.

Well the other day I took off my sideskirts because I knew the one side was rusted because the sideskirt had been damaged at some point. This is what I found...

The driver side, the not so bad side.

The passenger side... :banghead:

I've gotten an estimate of $1035 from the body shop I used last summer to fix it all. I will not be putting the skirts back on if I get this fixed. I also checked with what I thought was a cheaper shop, was last summer when I decided to use the other place. They side they were looking at $1000 a side. Yea... right. So I'm undecided on what to do... I could beg my parents to let me borrow like 200 bucks so I can get it done soon, or let it rust, or sell the car. Knowing me I'll just keep pouring every penny into the car. Anybody else have rust this bad under there?

its pretty far to just drive to and get an estimate, and i doubt with my job 6am to 4pm weekdays, that i would be able to get there while they were open. is there anyway you could find out a price maybe for me? just tell them both rockers are rusted, need to be fixed, smoothed, and painted. if not, i'm just gonna go to conrad's, but i wouldn't mind hearing a price from you guys, your car looks great. even my bf complimented your car at superjam, and thats a good thing.

I'd say for what your looking to get done, if they are going to fix it and smooth it out, thats a hell of a price. Your going to be hard pressed to find it cheaper.

hey i sent you a msg on IM. we cant do it for that cheap....more along the lines of like 17-1800 to get it to look like the ones in the pic. basically the whole pass side needs to be cut off and replaced, if not the rust is just going to come back on it. its prolly rusted out behind there where you cant see. theres an inner and an outter rocker i guess? anyway....yeah for us to do it right and make it a good job its not going to happen for a grand. sorry i guess it was worth a shot though. check you IM i left some more info.
