That sucks Brian. 75 on route 15, hell, that's average for that highway. Then you get maniacs that do 120mph +......I'm not saying from experience
Good luck fightin the man.

When did you get a RED target on your back? DUI...Speeding...what's next?

My radar detector has kept me out of trouble since I installed it...no run ins with the cops since installing.
Fight every ticket you get Brian...every one. Don't let them just hand you points. Do what Raf said and talk to the prosecutor when you go to court. I am not sure about PA, but most NJ municipalities require you to call them, tell them you are pleading Not Guilty, and schedule a court date, where you can then speak to the Prosecutor. Most likely you can get that reduced to a lower fine and reduced points, or a higher fine and no points. I would try to get the latter if I were you. |

F the radar detectors, just pay attention
Sucks Brian, but as you said, you were not paying attention.

Chris- it was 15 N at the Highland Park exit. Db-yeah I know. I didn't think the cops had a A.P.B. out for a mk4 silver GTI!!! Jason- yeah 75 on Rt 15 is my normal cruising speed. But I will be careful from this point on...you don't speak from experience...hahaha...attention all cars. be on the lookout for a b5 passat with cf hood....haha. |

i used to live near that exit, and i can tell you that the cops are really strict around that area. i've even been called by the cops on my cell phone twice, saying that someone on the road called in my plates and complained. granted, i was probably driving like one of those maniacs that were mentioned (i have a 110 mph speeding ticket from Rte15 to prove it
King of the Obvious's advice: slow down on Rte. 15. btw: yes, they do remember who speeds on Rte. 15. i had a black MK3 with white Motegis, and some of the cops knew who i was before i told them. i believe the word is: Notorious.

Grab a beer, this one's long
Sorry to hear about your ticket, man. I've managed to talk my way out of all my possible tickets for the last few years. I have a couple cop friends so they gave me the heads up. Once I passed a cop on I-94 going to Chicago at 133.6 mph (speed limit is 70 mph). I saw him pull out after I passed him and pulled off before he even turned his lights on. When he came to the car I explained that I was just testing my new car since there were no other cars on the road (it was after midnight on a tuesday). He took my license and everything and ran it. He came back to the car, thanked me for not running or giving him a hassel, complimented my rims, and told me to slow down. Guess he was having a good day. Heres some pointers from my cop friend: Be polite and respectful. Never bad-mouth a police officer. Stay calm and in control of your words, body language and emotions. Don't get into an argument with the police. Remember, anything you say or do can be used against you. Keep your hands where the police can see them, on the wheel if you’re driving. Tell the officer everything you are doing (ex. “My wallet is in my back, right pocket. I’m going to get it now.”) Don't run. Don't touch any police officer. Don't resist even if you believe you are innocent. Don't complain on the scene or tell the police they're wrong or that you're going to file a complaint. Remember officers' badge & patrol car numbers. If you feel your rights have been violated, file a written complaint with police department's internal affairs division or civilian complaint board. 1. What you say to the police is always important. What you say can be used against you, and it can give the police an excuse to arrest you, especially if you bad-mouth a police officer. 2. You don't have to answer a police officer's questions, but you must show your driver's license and registration when stopped in a car. 3. You don't have to consent to any search of yourself or your car. If you DO consent to a search, it can affect your rights later in court. If the police say they have a search warrant, ASK TO SEE IT. 4. Do not interfere with, or obstruct the police -- you can be arrested for it. IF YOU ARE STOPPED FOR QUESTIONING 1. It's not a crime to refuse to answer questions, but refusing to answer can make the police suspicious about you. You can't be arrested merely for refusing to identify yourself on the street. 2. Police may "pat-down" your clothing if they suspect a concealed weapon. Don't physically resist, but make it clear that you don't consent to any further search. 3. Ask if you are under arrest. If you are, you have a right to know why. 4. Don't bad-mouth the police officer or run away, even if you believe what is happening is unreasonable. That could lead to your arrest. IF YOU'RE STOPPED IN YOUR CAR 1. Upon request, show them your driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance. In certain cases, your car can be searched without a warrant as long as the police have probable cause. To protect yourself later, you should make it clear that you do not consent to a search. It is not lawful for police to arrest you simply for refusing to consent to a search. 2. If you're given a ticket, you should sign it; otherwise you can be arrested. You can always fight the case in court later. 3. If you're suspected of drunk driving (DWI) and refuse to take a blood, urine or breath test, your driver's license may be suspended. IF YOU'RE ARRESTED OR TAKEN TO A POLICE STATION 1. You have the right to remain silent and to talk to a lawyer before you talk to the police. Tell the police nothing except your name and address. Don't give any explanations, excuses or stories. You can make your defense later, in court, based on what you and your lawyer decide is best. 2. Ask to see a lawyer immediately. If you can't pay for a lawyer, you have a right to a free one, and should ask the police how the lawyer can be contacted. Don't say anything without a lawyer. 3. Within a reasonable time after your arrest, or booking, you have the right to make a local phone call: to a lawyer, bail bondsman, a relative or any other person. The police may not listen to the call to the lawyer. 4. Sometimes you can be released without bail, or have bail lowered. Have your lawyer ask the judge about this possibility. You must be taken before the judge on the next court day after arrest. 5. Do not make any decisions in your case until you have talked with a lawyer. Sorry it was so long, but it's pretty in depth. If you follow the guidelines about getting pulled over in your car to a T, you probably won't get a ticket. In fact, the cop may think you're an off-duty cop. Just don't tell them you are (impersonating a cop is a felony). The best thing you can do is tell them the truth (or something close like my car testing BS) and don't make excuses for yourself. Acknowledge you were wrong. Cops like to see people take responsibility for themselves.

Nice post Tor_aox! I learned most of this info. in a little book I bought called "the speeder's guide to avoiding tickets"
I got pulled over this afternoon as well during a local cruise; doing "56 in a 40" Oh well, I guess I should be thankful; he didn't catch us doing 75 in a 30! (yes, we slowed down; eventually...)
