That place is in the boonies. Speed limit was 80 on the interstate though. I was there on my birthday in may of 02 and it was snowing.

I think Joshy F. was out in Idaho for business a few months ago and said it was pretty clutch. I'm not familiar with that area, but stay safe either way.

Brian = Truth

I spent a total of two months criss-crossing that damn state.

We had a site in Mountain Home as well, down the road from the AFB.
Mountain Home itself is pretty dumpy, but it's only 30 minutes or so east of Boise, which is one of my favorite cities.

If your into hippy shit like I am (biking, hiking, local organic markets, etc.), Boise is great, and the resturaunt/nightlife/chick scene is pretty decent as well.

Further east you'll find such marvelous places as Twin Falls, which I have concluded is a huge strip mall of a town, but the Snake River Canyon is there and it's pretty awesome. You can see where Evil Kenivel tried to jump the caynon, as the dirt mount launch ramp is still standing.

Even further east is Pocatello, not too much there, but check out Portneuf Valley Brewery. Great beer, and great food!

Further east still is Idaho Falls, a pretty decent nightlife, check out the Frosty Gator and tell Jill at Jaker's I said "Hi". Idaho Falls is also the gateway to Grand Teton National Forest, which is pretty cool.

There is a bunch of crap in between, but not too much worth mentioning...Burley has a aviation museum, you might be into that, being in the Air Force and all. There is a good winery outside Glenn's Ferry, and a killer mexican joint on the main strip in Gooding. Some sand dunes at Bruneau State Park, pretty close to the AFB.

Up North you have the Sawtooth mountains, and Sun Valley. Ketchum, Hailey, and Bellvue are cool little upscale ski towns up Rt. 75. Ketchum is right at the foot of Bald Mountain, which has some decent skiing, and fun downhill mountain bike course in the off seasons. Good resturaunts up in that area as well, but a pretty lame nightlife, unless it's the dead of Winter.

Your pretty close to Oregon...the crappy part mind you, but nonetheless.

If you want food poisioning with hometown patriotism, and a 1960's roadside murder motel in Mountain Home; check out Grinde's Diner and The ThunderBird Motel.

Hope you like it.

I do understand that Shane is into murder by way of food poisoning with a down-home feel, so he should like that area quite well!
