merdman.. i dont think your too far from me.. just sayin (reading pa) basically..

but yes.. at minimum a chat box at the top that can be seen by all.. similar to a chat room that aol use to have.. something like that.

OR.. a mod to member chat.

OR.. a chat im thing that every can use.. but can be somehow policed by mods.. OR.. do it like aol where if a member were to report someone.. it would send a copy of the im to the mods.. who could then hand out discipline as needed.

i agree its a great asset.. but.. it must also be used responsibly.. and somehow have discipline by moderator enforcement.

fubar.. i dont really see many ads on mine being a free member.. i just see the site sponsor banners etc.. but i notice if im not signed in and i click a post.. i see all these bs adds throughout the post.. but when im logged in i dont.. maybe its just cuz im a mod?

I agree with most of the previous posts. Now I have only been a memeber for less than two days but have spent a lot of time on here. I also have never been a member of a forum on anything else...but I have looked at a few others, organizing and cleaning up is simple but would literly do wonders. Color scheme def. Also something that I noticed is that the Forums could be broken down in to more exact segiments... like break down of mk3 then...quick questions....electrical....drivetrain.....audio... ..body. Just a suggestion, I think that people would be quicker not to ask random questions on threads that have nothing to do with that topic. Oh and def the chat box, prob one of the best suggestions so far.

^^^ i like that idea..

where youd click mk4.. have sub categories.. audio, body, performance, maitenence yada yada..

that would definately help clean stuff up for sure. GREAT IDEA mtmaintusmc!

anything less cluttered is definately a huge plus.. im trying to think of ways to make it more user friendly for that new comer and less confusing. for instance we seem to get alot of dads in here trying to get answers how to fix their son / daughters car. basically simplicity is more.

merdman: a good time is all i ask doesnt bother me if you drink or dont drink. thats not the point. just a good time chillin and shootin the shit about cars, broads, and whatever other bs topic we come up with is fine by me. OH.. and of course. PLENTY of dub pics during the photo shoots

hmm another thing i thought of if we do the sub categories under each section..

like for example..

Mk4..
engine, interior, performance, maintenance, suspension, wheels / tires
then we could do one more that just says OTHER
in the other category could be any other topic / question / random bsing thread anything would be fair game for that.

thats what im thinkin and would eliminate alot of those threads / sections on the main forum page.

plus do like a show off section under each section.. like mk4, mk3 etc

so do..
mk4
classifieds, wheels & tires, maitenence, suspension, other, show off etc etc etc

under classifieds
parts, vehicles, wheels / tires

so do like sub categories under the sub categories

Pretty much all these ideas are pretty good like the clean up and the making it easier to wade though the stuff and the sub categories is really neat too. but i like the smaller size of the website thats why i chose vwforum over vortex because i liked the smaller community and the less fancy and snazzy crap all over the place i like the smaller simple website we have here. once there gets to be way to many people like vortex has you have to sift though bogus replies and other crap all the dummies post over there. here we get answers from people that know what their talking about and help those of us (such as me) learn more about their dub and how to make it work better and more their own. just what i think.
