Default Ze Jet(ta)!

Picked her up this Monday. Got a great deal on her because of being a leftover 2007 Wolfsburg Edition (Manual) w/ factory installed spoiler. So far I have enjoyed every single minute of driving her. I love the sound of the engine compared to the 2.0 and the ride quality is amazing. The seat warmers keep my Arsch nice and warm too! It doesn't feel like I stepped up to a Jetta but more to a Passat compared to my old '04 Golf, which I ended up trading in but I kept the 17" BORBET's for the Jet. Nothing big planned for her anytime soon while it's still cold but I am getting some clear corners and might be smoking the tail lights with a 38% tint strip to kinda resemble the '08 tails.

Here are some quick shots I took today after class...

I do have a MK5 noob question, where can I get the best deal on a set of 4 TPM sensors (besides Tirerack) so that I don't have to ride around in the summer with it giving me codes lol?

Thanks!

Nice, glad you're enjoying it!

Wheel from your Mk4 won't fit your Mk5 unless you were using adapters for them, different bolt pattern.

So you want to add TPMS so you don't get codes? I'm a little confused. But you can get the parts for TPMS at oempl.us.

I thought you needed those TPMS Siemens sensors installed on your custom rims to not get an error code from TPMS on the instrument cluster?

I didn't even know that they were of a different bolt pattern, so where could I get an adapter to fit my 5x100 rims on the Jetta (5x112)?

Well do you have TPMS stock? Not all Mk5's do. My girlfriend's Jetta doesn't. If you do and you put on aftermarket wheels, then yes, you will have a light on your dash all the time. I haven't looked recently to see if anyone figured out a way around that.

Adapters would work, yes, but not sure they're worth it to put 17's on a Mk5, that's pretty small for a Mk5. Try selling those and finding a set of 18's. Plus, unless you lower it, aftermarket wheels won't look great.

After a certain date in 2007 all cars had to have TPMS thanks to our awesome government, but no one knows their car has it and each manufacturer has a different screwy way way of resetting it. If you have metal valve stems then you have them.

Chances are your MK4 wheels will not fit, the MK5 takes a higher offset and adding an adaptor will lower the final offset on the wheels even more.

I do have TPMS on it, it says it in the manual and mk4-gasm mentioned that having steel valve stems means that you got TPMS, which I also checked and have. Thanks for that advice guys! Yeah so I will most likely sell my Borbets w/ tires, only put a 1000 miles on them over this past Summer but 18's are nicer I guess .

Thanks, nothing big soon besides clear corners, smoking the tails, OEM blind spot mirror and all around tint. Most likely 18's at the beginning of Summer
