So now its says 2 on top then "safe" whats got me puzzled is the 2 number on top, anyone know what that 2 means...? Anyway i called the dealer they said drive around four an hour and then the radio will reset, does anyone know if thats continiuos driving ...? When I took my 07 gti in to the dealer the other day they said it (the radio) needed a code when they had it in service mode. Then when they switched the car out of service mode it wasnt asking for it.
Perhaps they have left the car in service mode and continous driving will take the car out of service mode.
This is just a guess.

The code should be in your owners manual. I'm not sure what safe mode is, I'd just call the dealer and ask...I'm sure they'll be able to help you out. They should have entered it before they gave it back to you, or at least told you about the code and wehere to find it.

The code needed is different to the one you get on the card with your owners manual. Like i said, Its the service code.

If the radio is in Safe 2, to reset it you have to leave the ignition in the on position (car NOT started) for an hour and it should reset, then you can input the correct radio code. The code should be in your owners manual, and if its not, then you'll have to take it to the dealer so they can get it for you.

I could be wrong with how to reset it, but I dont think that changed with the new cars...

Hope that helps a little
