I have a 2006 Jetta 2.5 with a smashed quarter panel tail light lens, right side. How do I replace it? My dealer has the assembly in stock but how do I get the broken assembly out? How do I get the trunk lining out?
You do not need to remove the trunk lining. The two nuts that need to be removed to replace the taillamp are accessable through the little access hole. There are two silver colored studs visible through this access hole. I believe you just need a 10mm deep socket and remove these nuts after unplugging the harness. The taillamp will then come out. How much are you paying the dealer for the taillamp assembly? I have the Genuine Volkswagen part in stock and can ship today anywhere in the Continental US for $67.36 delivered.
