Default K&N Air Filter for 2010 Golf: Any MAF Issues?

Hope you don't mind a newbie (old newbie--third VW ) asking yet another rookie question, but...

I remember when I had my '01 New Beetle Sport, there were issues with putting in a drop-in K&N filter cartridge and having the Mass Air-Flow Sensor going off and having to be reset. I could be remembering it wrong, and if I'm recalling correctly, it could have been only an issue with the turbocharged engines.

Would I be ok to put a K&N drop-in cartridge filter in my 2010 (non-GTI) Golf? No issues or problems? Any noticeable hp or mileage gain for those of you with the same 2.5L/5cyl engine?

Thanks again for your help, and best to all!

Professor.

I have seen K&N's cause MAF fouling due to the oil. I suppose that as long as you are very light on the oiling, (less oil, more frequent cleaning) you will be okay. Not sure if you will have any appreciable power gains with the 2.5.

Default Thanks, Craig...

I might not bother with it. That little 2.5L is pretty zippy in the 2-door Golf as it is. Have a great weekend.
