Exclamation putting a sub into my 06 jetta

I want to put a 12" JBL sub with 120W amp in the trunk of my jetta. i was wondering since i am still running the factory head unit if there would be any way of wiring power to the sub without splitting the rear speaker lines? Everywhere i read says that using the RCA line converter is my best bet but wont this affect the quality of sound in the rear speakers?

It won't affect the quality of the sound, as what you are doing with the converter is letting it split his and lows and changing it into a RCA connection. You can splice into the front or rear speakers, however rear is more common because the sub is going to be in the rear and usually depending on how you equalize the sounds, more "hi sounds" are coming from the front. Good luck on your install.

Yes it does, and will certainly affect the sound. Anytime you change the impedance, convert a powered circuit back to a -10dbv circuit, or split a feed with a crossover or Y it -you will impact the sound.

Doesn't mean you will notice the difference too much though -It depends a lot on your ears. -and since you are on a budget enough to want to keep the factory head -I wouldn't let this stop you.

I was always jealous of people who cant tell the difference in good and average audio though. -They always seem so happy!!

Even some people who have halfway decent audio seem to think of themselves as self-proclaimed "masters of music"
