Default Siren Noise

Hi,
Just purchased my first golf. It is a 55 plate 2.0 TDI 140 4motion. 53k and FSH.

When i am accelerating and de-accelerating i hear a small like siren/whistling noise coming from the car. The car runs perfect but this noise is starting to irritate me. Do i have a major problem here?? Have any of you experienced this or know what's causing this?

Thanks in advance
Lee

Where is the sound coming from? Could be the sound of your turbo spooling. They do make kind of an air moving type whistling noise.

It seems to be coming from the engine/turbo area. Just let someone who is slightly mechanically minded here it and he says it's the turbo and spooling (meant to do that)
Was wondering if this is the case and anyone else experiences the same noise?
The whistle noise goes in sync with the acceleration....

Yes it sounds like you are describing the normal noise of any turbo car. Thanks.

Diesel turbos are a little more noticeable to hear the noise going up consistently with RPM's because of the variable-geometry turbo that they use.

Man, I used to be paranoid like this, then it progressed into something much ...much worse -now I can't let my engine get dirt or oil on it. I clean it with a toothbrush. I swear both my BMW and VWs engines are friggin sterilized! lol
