#44/Garris Back on Top!!

The dry-spell is over!! On Saturday night, Mike Garris Jr. drove the VWF .:Racing Jetta to a decisive victory in the 6th race of the season. This is his 3rd win of the year which will most certainly help in the overall points standings.

Race #6 saw only 23 cars entered. A somewhat smaller field than in past races. Less cars meant more room to roam for the #44 car.....and "roam" it did. Perhaps the scariest moment of the race was right off the start. Mike was in 8th position when the green flag dropped and immediately found himself in a "pinch". A blue Dodge Neon nudged the #44 car, badly damaging the RH side door & rocker panel. Mike managed to keep control and pursue the pack. The damage didn't seem to hinder the handing of the Jetta. Mike had no problems hanging with the top 5 cars within the first 10 laps. Garris quickly moved into 1st by lap 18, and never looked back. Somewhere around lap 40, the "01" Mustang of Brian Labar(last season's points winner) began to press the Jetta from behind. Mike kept his cool and held off the `stang and eventually Labar dropped back. Mike Garris drove a clean race and brought the blue & red Jetta in for the WIN!!

A BIG CONGRATS the entire Garris Family and VWF .:Racing Team. I would also like to extend a special thank you to them for allowing me to join in thier celebration on victory lane. I'll never forget it!!

Thats great! Happy to hear Adolph's back in the running. Any idea where we stand in points? and how many more races are there?

thanx guys for the ups! and bill no need for thanx on the victorylane fun you belong down there with us just as much as any1 else! you are part of the pitcrew so anytime i also got ya a 8x10 of the vw banner pic! we now should be 2nd in the points and real close to 1st!

I wanna go on Sept.18th too.....but according to MVS's forum, the event has been canceled/postponed(Its still listed on thier schedual though). I really want to verify this before we get a rumor mill going. Jay??
Any insight on this?

they say its canceled on the 18th i hope they dont make it up and we just run the last race ! points are so close!

EDIT - OK, I've just confirmed through Jay that the final enduro race of the season is schedualled for Sunday, Oct.17. I'll post up a starting time as soon as I recieve it.
