Default #44 get's attacked by Gremlins yet again

I was unable to attend Race #5 last night however I just spoke with Jay regarding the race and the condition of Adolf. Garris & the #44 won the heat race which got some bonus points in the points race early in the night. The main enduro race got kicked off great Garris lead most of the race with 5 to go red came out and everyone was forced to sit for 2 mins. Little did the team know but the fan stopped mid race by a melted fuse. When the car was rolling the air was cooling the engine. But with the red flag out the car temp was rising. After green resumed white smoke started pumping out of Adolf, the unthinkable was happening. Garris was forced to pull off and did not finish the race. This was the first DNF of the year and a most sad one as well. The main raditor hose burst causing the temp to rise above 300 degrees and forcing to pit.

The damage has not be looked into yet however our feelings so far are not good there is a good chance that the engine could be severly hurt. This was the 3rd week straight we should of been handed the checkered flag. The points leader also blew his motor early on so we easily would be points leader now. The standings remain tight and will be released tomorrow. However early thoughts say we can only finish 2nd at best.

Please pass on the support to #44 and the VWF / Garris team. WE NEED TO HOPE & PRAY!

Yea, db, that main event was an absolute heartbreaker. I'm sure Mike is feeling it more than anyone else. It was good to see the #44 kick-butt in the qualifier though. Mike totally ruled the track on that race. He was in the 3rd starting position and they did running starts for the qualifier heats(...as opposed to the standing starts during the 75 lap enduro). Immediately off the start, Mike broke free and began to run away from the field.
As for the 75 lapper, the blue Jetta started in 17th position(Why? I have no idea....he WON his qualifier!?!) and at least 2 of those formidable 'stangs were in the front row. I think there were 31 cars total. Anyway, Mike fought his way through traffic and hung with leading pack almost the entire time. About mid-way through, "Adolf" was in 2nd and pressing the leader. It didn't come easy as Mike duked it out with an orange Honda for several laps. Finally around lap 60, Mike overtook the high-running Mustang for the lead. It was at this point of the race when I thought Mike was gonna run away with it. THEN.....................
While Mike was not involved in the incident, a red & white car rolled onto turn #3 and ended up on its roof. Naturally, all traffic was red-flagged while the driver was extracted(he was ok). I was still in a state of elation until I saw the steam bellowing from under the hood of the stopped #44 car. Mike had no choice but to pull into the infield and shut her down. I saw Mike get halfway out of the car and beat his fists in disappointment on the roof. He was just sooooooo close!
I hope the team doesn't allow themselves to become discouraged over this. They have consistantly proven themselves to be top competitors at this track. And while it may reflect it on the scorecards, this car & team are winners in my book. I hope they can get Adolf back together to see some more checkered flags yet this season.

peace,

brenshlus

Theres no doubt in my mind Adolph is the fastest car out there. Its too bad it had to end this way.

A very unfortunate ending, but I have faith in team Garris, next time will be different.
