Default Call me crazy ;p

Well I am going to eventualy build my mazda into some kind of wonderfull. But the biggest problem was what paower plant to use.
Well rotary's are way expensive now so the turbo rotary is far from reach now and even if I got one it would cost a fourtune to tune it So then i thought V8. I saw a few swaps done. Pretty sick but then still issues suround getting hold of the 300hp and 300ftlb goal. . I also thought of putting a silvia motor. I have seen it done once but very little info and very complicated swap Still stuck
Until today
I went to the web sight that sells the V8 swap kits and guess what. They have a swap direct bolt on kit to install a vg30dett .
What motor is this you ask. None other than the 300z 300hp twin turbo.
Freakin sick. Even better yet beleave it or not the motor cost 1/2 the price of a silvia motor
1000 to 1500 for a complete ecu wire harness ,motor and tranny. Thats awsome.
So what do ya think?
May not happen real quick but it seems like a budget hot rod in the works.
One important question though does anyone know of a shop that could custom design a set of manifolds for the car. The sight says I need to have a set made to lower the turbos for clearance and easyer access for the down pipes

You'll have to put the RX-7 in the new Members Rides section and keep us updated on the progress.

That motor is a hell of a powerplant. Sport Compact Car did a complete build-up on one to race specs. I'll see if I can't dig up some of the issues.

Awesome powerplant, the reason yu dont see them to much is fopr the fact that everything is so tight in the engine bay (Like an S4 in comparison.). 600+ WHP is definately obtainable ....

Very sick plan! But you do have alot of options as far as V8's too. I seen alot of 2nd Gen RX7's with swaps that werent expensive at all. And the 13B's with tons of work done, can be reliable, and produce massive amounts of hp. Plus I just cant get past that redline when built up. But yea they do have crazy problems, that can be hard to fix, and costly. The 300zx swap is going to be amazing, and well worth it. I would def. go with it, because really can't go wrong with it. And Nissan isnt to known for making problem causing motors. Plus with the TT setup, your capable of pushing way over you 300hp mark. Try more like 500+. Good luck. I am surprised that you can get the setup that cheap, sense they are so rare. I mean its hard to find a TT, manual, 300zx. Most of the are auto, and na.

I thought the same thing too.
But it seems the motor is availible in the entire nissan/infinity line up under vg30 and vg33 engine code. The motors are capible up to 1000 hp I will be happy with the 300 stock. I can use any tranny they were all the same.
Nissan's v6 rear drive pick up uses the same trans as the 300z. Maybe diferent gearing but the same housing. There are also other options of nissan's same powere plant. The Maxima old 300z single turbo.
Well check the sight
