Default just another non-VW owning VW'r

Howdy.
I am here not due to owning a VW, but hoping to mine for information that I cannot seem to find with Google.

I am building a new set-up for my car. It was born a 1992 GEO Storm, but I figured out how to bolt in all sorts of other motors. Currently I have an engine from an Oldsmobile in the car and run it with a Megasquirt.
Car runs now, but I wanted to up challenge myself.
I am building a hybrid motor from a Saturn VUE, with a Cadillac Catera intake conversion, using a Caddy CTS flywheel and a host of other parts.
While this all sounds retarded, as though no one could get it all to work right, they said the same thing about the last motor swap too. It all fits and will work.
My issue is the 60-2 crank trigger wheel. Truthfully, I'd prefer to ditch the COP set up. I'd want a simple coil pack design that was independant of drivers from the MS. It seems the Germans really love the 60-2 wheel and use it in many cars including the VW cars of modern era.
Would anyone here have any ideas on sourcing a different igntion system? I do have a CAM sensor available as well, but want to avoid using it if I can.
I KNOW I can use the COP with the MS and the 60-2 wheel already if I put in the drivers, but was just hoping for something else.
BTW, engine is a V6.

This one's pretty straightforward to set up, actually. You can use a 60-2 wheel to fire a wasted spark coil pack directly. Are you on an MS1 or MS2? Let me know and I'll go over what this takes.

Hey, I have bought some of my stuff from you guys in the past. A+ BTW.

I was planning on converting to a V3 board as I was always using my old 2.2. It has been so long since I put that whole thing together I have forgetton much of what I learned then. I was not able to find a wasted spark coil pack that took a 62-2 signal. Google was not my friend in this senerio.

So I am, at this point re-learning EVERYTHING and willing to take any advice I can get. I really want this to be a simple as possible.
This is what I am currently planning with, unless I can find anything better. Please let me know of any mistakes you might see.

A 3.0 board would be a bit easier to use, as it has a built in VR conditioner. We've found with 60-2 wheels you will want to wire up a 10K resistor in line with the VR sensor signal to cut down on tach dropout issues. You could use either MS1/Extra or MS2/Extra, have the MS read the wheel directly and fire the coils with BIP373 ignition modules.

What is "Tach dropout"? I've never heard that term before. *googles furiously*

BTW, thanks for the input. It would seem I am the first to try and mod one of these engines much, with the exception of a few souls in Europe who got it in other platforms. Right now everything is still in the drawing board stages as I don't wish to take apart a running car for months while I gather all the bits and peices.

"Tach dropout" is when the Megasquirt's RPM signal (as shown in a data log) suddenly drops to zero and then bounces back. Without the inline resistor, this happens a lot with 60-2 wheels if you are using a VR sensor. Hall effect sensors don't have this problem, usually.
