Well I am not really sure what I want to do with it right now. I hate to do too many mods to a car that is that old and intact. However I would love to put skirts and bumpers on mine kind of like this one

(sorry if this car belongs to someone out here, hope you dont mind me using the pic, I really do admire the car). As far as the motor goes it would be a dream to put a VR in there but thats just what it is... a dream. I will be in search of a 1.8T to drop in mainly because I am not that experienced with VW's and that swap sounds easiest plus there is a lot of information on the net that covers that swap. I need some coilovers but not sure what exactly I am looking for. It seems that there are cheap ones and expensive ones, I have a feeling if I go with cheap ones they are going to crap out on me after 3000 miles. If not coilovers I will go with some sort of lowered racing spring to add to the handling capabilites. Different wheels are in the lineup but I am having a hard time figuring out what size will be best for my car. I dont want a "pimped out" car, I want a car that looks nice with mods that contribute to performance. Header and exhaust are on the list as well.

Sorry about the pics, I cant find anything wrong with them right now. The interior is greatno rips, tears, or burns. The headliner was saggy when I bought it but it has been replaced and looks great now. The only non-stock component of my car is the sterio, however I still have the original. i'll take some pics of the interior pretty soon.

If anyone has any advice or suggestions about what I could do with this car please let me know. Remember I am fairly new to VW's and I dont know exactly what I want yet.

Thanks, Austin

My advice? Don't do a thing to it!!! Well, suspension and wheels are okay, because you can change that stuff back fairly easily. But if I were you, I wouldn't rip it apart for a 1.8T swap or anything like that. Clean, unmolested, rust-free stock Rabbit GTIs are becoming very difficult to find, and it kills me every time I see another nice one hacked up. If you want a major project (engine swap, body mods, etc etc) I would suggest buying a shell or a car that is not in quite as nice condition to use as a base (you could also use a non-GTI Rabbit as a base if you're going to swap everything out anyway).
