nah its not that crazy at all, i run 22psi now and 25 psi is just a turn of the mbc. I like the power at 22 so there it sits for now. Trying to build me a custom exhaust now to allow for better use of more psi. Oh and if your going to do a different head, try and make it better than an 8V. They are soooo limited in breathing it isn't funny. It would be nice to get ahold of one of the european motors, but that would cost me a fortune, maybe in the future though. I pmed you his number

they don't make any of the 16v diesel heads that will mate with an old diesel, i'm pretty sure you can't even stack that on top of a tdi either. but in canada and europe they had the 1.9 idi's indirect injection, which was basically the step between the 1.6l idi, and the 1.9l tdi. it had the same ports as a tdi, but the same injection style as a 1.6, and all that. but the 1.9 idi isn't as revvy and stuff as a 1.6, but a 1.6 head is really really restrictive, a 1.9 head is light years ahead of it. so a 1.9 head on a 1.6 makes good power. i dunno if anyone follows malone on vortex, but that's what he has built for his mk3 golf. anyways enough rambling.

also, don't all mk4 tdi's have the vnt turbo? i know the little kkk turbo on the mk3's is supposed to spool like mad, it's so cute and tiny. the one guy i know with one said his snaps over to 25psi so fast you can hardly see it.

a couple days ago i took my blow off valve apart and replaced the spring in it with a dial rod, and screwed it all down tight, that bad boy won't be opening any time soon. i now see nearly 18psi. it really is begging me for more fueling, but i dont wanna mess with fueling, as then my boost pressure will increase, and i have no intercooler, so then i'd have to spend a day putting a headgasket on

Mike from TDTuning's current setup IIRC.

1.6L TD. AAZ headgasket, 10mm pump head, modded governor, TDTuning GTD Injectors, TDTuning BOV 'butt-plug', EuroNation custom 2.5" turbo back, hardware store boost controller, 210mm 16v clutch.

93whp-112ft/lbs which translates to ~109hp-134ft/lbs at the crank. Not bad for an engine rated at 68hp-98ft/lbs with 230K miles on it.

Oh... and 28psi, no intercooler, perfectly safe EGTs

Those are some really good numbers. I know we dynoed a stock 1.6 rabbit deisel and it did 35whp. It was the funniest thing evar cause it was in between two 300hp dubs on a dyno day . Thats awesome that you tweeked that thing out a little bit. Yeah the new tdi's do have the vnt turbo's, but trust me they are just as small. Anything over 18psi on the stock turbo is a nono, well unless you want it to pop shortly there after. The vnt17 thats on my car now is not the much bigger, can't rememer what the exact measurment is but its only a couple thousands bigger, maybe a hundedth? Not really more cfm flow, but a shaft that isn't as undercut, and reliable spooling, basically no lag to 22psi

yeah, i'd like to get my intercooler on, and the buy a pp downpipe, and then get fueling all up, new injectors, and governor mod, and basically max the pump out with out having to get it built. and by then i'll just try and decide whether i wanna keep the car and stop messing with it for a while, built a 1.6/1.9 hybrid, or sell it move on to something else.

The new PP downpipes make me too lazy to build them

If you haven't seen the new design, they've stepped up. I'm still capable of making something much nicer, but it's just not worth it half the time.

yep jetta euros, there was a guy from germany that had a stock pile of them and he was getting rid of them, he also had the clear corners so i figured why not. not that i don't like the american front end, but i like the euro one too, so now i have both hehe
