Default No love at the GTG

Well id have to say i had a good time. BUT i saw a post on the vortex in the mid atlantic forum, and said thre was a gtg so i figured cool i grab a buddy and my girl and roll out. ( 70 miles each way ). Well when i got there i was greted by the regestration guy. So i paid for my car and forgot about my girlfriend but paid 4 her later after i relized it. Anyway it seemed like i was parked in the EXTRAS section. It was like ahh what ever shows up put them over there,,i was there at 1130. And after that i didnt have one person come over to my car or my buddys car to say hey or even take a glance at what we brought, granted we were not show stoppers but show some love. I had a Clean 04 jetta 1.8 PG. Buddy had a 00 jetta glx. Both very clean and i was lookin at the pics on hear and No love for eather of them. I mean when we registered the guys had to see we came from chambersburg 70 miles away and at least a picture or somthin. I guess my point is the show felt like a members only show, and if that was the case ,cool more power to ya but it was posted on the vortex and figured it was open...... Comment's welcome on my post. Ryan

Did you actually register your car for the $10 or did you just pay the $5 spectator admitance fee? The cars put in the smaller lot off to the side were for those that didnt register their cars but wanted to spectate the gtg. that would explain why no one came up to look at your car up there. There were plenty of non members in the main lot, and many non-members took home awards. Maybe miscommunication was the cause of you being stuck off to the side and feeling left out.

oh ok. when you said "extras" section i thought you meant the other lot. Both of your cars were nice, I didnt take an upclose peek but I checked them out. I saw you guys were mainly behing your cars most of the time, if you want to meet people you have to go up and meet people too and not just wait for someone to come back to you.

Your right we did spend alot of our time behind our cars, that was because of how the show was everybody was styin at there cars i got up a good bit and walked around great turn out i thought. I just thought id get at least a hi or welcome from a event organizer or someone.Maybe check out our rides or somthin im not tryin to sound like a B**ch i just thought differtly from a group of guys working for a good cause. Not even a pic on the web site. But the beater golf with the bingo stampers that was all over the place . Thats prob cause he was a photographer ha ha ha. Its cool man. I didnt hardly see anybody vote on our side it was all on the "populer" side.

i was at my car for maybe 5 min the whole day. Some other people stayed by their cars all day, I knew the York crew likes to keep to themselves, thats cool whatever. I think the One Giant gtg was supposed to have a more of a gtg type environment rather than a show environment. At shows I stick by my car to clean it and crap and to wait for the judges, but things are so much more fun when you are up and looking around. I didnt get any pics either, its no big deal though. If you look threw the pictures posted there arent really any full shots of that white Jetta thats going in PVW either... db, the organizer arrived late, around 3 or so I think. I am sure he has a pic for you.

I'm glad you guys came out for GTG. Don't get the wrong idea by the way things went. You guys gotta mingle a bit. I took this picture of your car and looked at you. I was about to make a comment on your wheels and you had walked away. I just figured you guys were the private types, which is cool with me. But you have to give us a hint that your interested in being part of the scene, not just scenery.
If you would have walked over to the tent and yelled, "which one of you assholes is holding my beer?"... I would have laughed... and tossed you one. Don't be discouraged...

Just an observation, don't get me wrong, it's just constructive advice for the future...
\/ \/ \/ But this doesn't give off the social vibe. \/ \/ \/

Come on out again and look for the loud guy who has obviously had too much sun...

Sucks that you feel that way and I'll admit I wasn't too much for walking around and checking things out, not to make excuses but I had been up since 4pm fri pulled a 12hr shift at work got home at 6:30a.m. cleaned my car and met up with some friends and cruised to the show. All I wanted to do was put my tent up and plop my ass down and crack one open. Really Donnie nailed it you got to walk around and mingle, if you would've come over to where I was chillin I would've offered you a beer and told you to grab a seat I can't speak for everyone of course but I think the people I hang out with are the most chill/friendly people, next time just come up and shoot the shit with us

this was my first gtg in the volkswagon scene, and I had a great time. Sucks I'm also one who normally doesn't just walk up and shoot the crap, but oh well. I've been looking forward to this show since I joined up on here. I really like this forum because you can actually get some strait answers, and not have to read through 2 pages of people making comments about something completely off topic. I did see how the different groups of friends kinda stayed to themselves, which is fine. I went, enjoyed the cars, and really enjoyed just being around fellow true car lovers!! Those who I rolled up and back with were really cool, even if you all did desert me after I parked. But that's fine, I didn't go to the corner and cry or anything. I really liked how people brought food and drink, and everyone just kinda helped themselves. Although, if there had been a cooler or two of beer, I may have been more social. But there is always next year!! I'm making plans for it now. Thanks to all who brought this together, you're all really good people!!!!
