02 Passat and cool morning get drivers door open message

Started tail end of this past winter. When temps down in single digits, I would get "driver door open" message and overhead light comes one/off. After a little time (15 seconds - longer on really cold days), message goes away.

Everything appeared to point to door lock module. Reflowed solder joints but issue remained. Figured I would do late summer.

It now appears that when temps are ~ 50F, issue shows up, so happening at warmer temps. Just picked up and installed (waited for a discount/coupon since part is ~$200) a new door lock module and no change.

Is there a relay somewhere or would the problem be where the signals are ultimately going to.

Anybody know where the signal for the doors being open go??? Is there a relay somewhere?

I'm having the same problem you described with my '02 Passat Wagon. Just started happening a couple days ago and is very annoying. I was trying to find out where the sensor is for the door closed signal. Seems that it must be integrated in with the latch mechanism. Please let me know.
