Hi guys, I posted this over on PassatWorld as well and thought maybe someone here would have some helpful advice as well:
My wife's 04 Passat is driving us nuts. After you shut off and lock the car the alarm goes off an hour later, exactly an hour to the minute. Then it keeps doing it every hour (to the minute!) after that. Unfortunately it does not do it every day, especially when it sat at the dealer for two days for them to hear it. Has anyone ever had something like this happen to them? If so what did you do? Per the advice of someone on PassatWorld I'm going to try and track down a large current drain (measured it tonight to be 0.32A). I'll try and pull fuses one at a time to isolate (hopefully) the circuit that's drawing the most. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!!! |

Sounds like a door lock module, or micro-switch issue.
I would see if you can clean the connections at the module, just to try an verify wheather it's crapped the bed. You can check/replace the lock micro-switches using this DIY

Thanks - I'll take a look. We purchased the car used and the passenger door's spring was sprung when we bought it. I've always been leary of that door and think this problem is somehow related. My works "Websense" filtering won't allow me to open up the DIY so I'll have to check that out tonight at home. Are the microswitches/sensors easy to get at?

Update - I found the glovebox light was not turning off every time the glovebox was closed. The dealer removed the box when we had a leak and it looks like they broke off the lower plastic clips that hold the box tight. I put a wire tie around the light switch in the off position and so far so good...
