Default 07 Passat front end knocking noise

Need help guys.

A lady friend has an '07 Passat with a vibration noise and thump occuring at low speeds but the dealer cannot diagnose the problem.

It eminates from the passenger side and you can feel the "knocking" on the floorboard.

Sounds to me like something rotating from the axle. Brakes were inspected and no premature rotor damage. Any opinions.

Finally! After searching the Internet every month or so, and reporting the noise to the dealer twice now with no results, I finally find somebody else with what sounds it could slightly be the same type of problem.

2.0 Passat Wagon with an automatic.

Tell me if hers is the same. light knocking noise from the driveline, usually in transition from decelerating to accellerating. In the second/third gear speed range. Almost seems worse on an incline. It doesn't do it every single time so it seems like it may not be an engine or trans mount, but who knows.

My car is great, but this one noise and feel will make me not buy another one because it drives me nuts.

The dealer first told me they couldn't reproduce the problem. The second time in they said they felt something but they drove other Passats and felt the same, but I drove two Passats on the lot when I picked mine up and absolutely could not feel the same knock. This is definitely not normal gear slop either.

Anybody else?

Someone on another board mentioned the bearings so she told the dealer and they replaced them, free of charge.

The bearing were the problem the whole time.
