yeah its the stock radio, the only fuse on that is the 10amp on the back. its fine though, this is driving me nuts, maybe when the replacement master window switches come it will all work out. i got my fingers crossed thats the problem. im dying over here.

I made a post , with the exact same issue a little while ago. If the fuse on the back of the stock amp is ok, then the next thing to look at is the CCM(convenance control module)AKA (comfort control module) it's located underneath the drivers seat. Let me know if this helps

new master switch for the windows and doors came in today. Didnt help anything. I took a quick look under the drivers seat and i dont see anything down there. this is really begining to irritate me. is there a relay or something that controls all this interior stuff, dome lights, truck release, mirrors and windows?

Sorry for not being more specific. The CCM is under the carpet, under the Drivers seat(U.S model VW's)(passenger seat for UK model VW's) You will have to pop the plastic trim up, and to peel back the carpet to get to it. Here is a link with a step by step walk through on getting to the CCM. VW Passat Comfort Control Module harness repair | HeadFUZZ . The CCM going bad, is a common problem on the 99-03 1.8T passats.
Hope this helps.

thanks a millions guys. I ended up tracking down the ccm today and was able to see right away there was a broken wire. Looks like the guy who owned the car before me tried to fix it but did a terrible job. Got it all put back together and everything works! PERFECT! thanks again

Koo beans. Well here's an update on my passat. I got my dome lights, power windows, and locks working, by just replacing some fuses, but the crazy thing is when i turn the volume up on the stock radio high, it's start cutting out, like the radio has hickups or something. and when i hit the brake the radio cuts out completly. Any idea's??

sounds like it could be a bad ground somewhere in the radio. perhaps you replaced some of the fuses with a lower amperage that its supposed to be?
