Default 2002 passat Vibration

I have a 2002 Passat with 1.8 PFI DOHC, with a bad vibration while stopped with the car in drive. There also is a slight ticking noise in the the top end of engine; any chance of relation. Any chance of bad motor mounts? Has 85thousand miles. any help appreciated. New to VW.

I doubt the ticking noise and the vibration are related. Your car has hydraulic engine mounts and the vibration sounds to me like one has possibly collapsed. When you mention thicker weight oil, don't use it! Use VW spec 502.00 synthetic 5w30 or 5w40. It's not the timing to worry about, it's the potential sludging. With 85K on an '02, I would definitely think about replacing the timing belt and water pump. Your're getting close to living on the edge. If the top end ticking is slight, I probably wouldn't worry about it as long as you are using the correct engine oil.
