Hey all... new here with a question...
I have a 96 passat GLX V-6 manual and I have replaced the mass air-flow meter once already with one from a 97 passat... worked for a about two weeks but now the engine light has come on again and I am 100% sure its the same problem.
Any ideas as to the root of the problem on why the air flow meters would fail or something..? There are no outward or felt problems with the car... no errant revving or hickups... nothing like that... just the warning light telling me somethings wrong with the MAF sensor.
Just wondering if theres something I can do so I don't have to continually replace the MAF... should I bite the bullet and buy a brand new one..? I got quoted for one once the first time and it was gonna be around $300!
I don't know if this gives any clue but during the winter when I had my father-in-law clear the warning light, it stayed off for about 2-3 months but when it got warmer it went on again. I was thinking the air temp would have something to do with it... I dunno..
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated
Best,
Kaz
